Memorial of St. Ambrose, Bishop and Doctor

Prayer That We May Seek God and Find Him

Lord, teach me to seek you,
and reveal yourself to me when I seek you.
For I cannot seek you unless you first teach me,
nor find you unless you first reveal yourself to me.
Let me seek you in longing and long for you in seeking.
Let me find you in love, and love you in finding.

Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Novena Prayer to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

O Most Blessed Mother, heart of love, heart of mercy, ever listening, caring, consoling, hear our prayer. As your children, we implore your intercession with Jesus your Son. Receive with understanding and compassion the petitions we place before you today, especially ...(special intention).

We are comforted in knowing your heart is ever open to those who ask for your prayer. We trust to your gentle care and intercession, those whom we love and who are sick or lonely or hurting. Help all of us, Holy Mother, to bear our burdens in this life until we may share eternal life and peace with God forever. Amen.

+Prayer For Priests+

Dear Lord, we pray that the Blessed Mother wrap her mantle around your priests and through her intercession strengthen them for their ministry. We pray that Mary will guide your priests to follow her own words, “Do whatever He tells you” (Jn 2:5). May your priests have the heart of St. Joseph, Mary’s most chaste spouse. May the Blessed Mother’s own pierced heart inspire them to embrace all who suffer at the foot of the cross. May your priests be holy, filled with the fire of your loveseeking nothing but your greater glory and the salvation of souls. Amen. Saint John Vianney, pray for us.
-From the USCCB

On the occasion of his ordination to the priesthood, St. Norbert said, "O Priest! You are not yourself because you are God. You are not of yourself because you are the servant and minister of Christ. You are not your own because you are the spouse of the Church. You are not yourself because you are the mediator between God and man. You are not from yourself because you are nothing. What then are you? Nothing and everything. O Priest! Take care lest what was said to Christ on the cross be said to you: 'He saved others, himself he cannot save!'"

"The priesthood is the love of the heart of Jesus."
+St. John Vianney

"The priesthood is an astounding miracle, great, immense, and infinite."
+St. Ephrem

"One kneels in the consciousness of one's nothingness and rises a Priest forever."
+St. John Vianney

"The gift of the sacerdotal dignity surpasses all understanding. For us it is enough to know, that Jesus Christ has said that we should treat his priests as we would treat his own person: "He who hears you, hears Me; he who despises you, despises Me."
+St. Ephrem

"When you see the priest, think of our Lord Jesus Christ."
+Saint John Vianney

"He who honors a priest, honors Christ; and he who insults a priest, insults Christ."
+St. John Chrysostom

"To love God and not to revere the priest … this is not possible."
+St. Josemaría Escrivá

"Knowing then the greatness of their (priests') danger, treat them with much consideration, for as St. Paul says: They watch for your souls; and not simply this but as having to render an account of them. Because of this you must treat them with honor."
+St. John Chrysostom

"If I saw an angel and a priest, I would bend my knee; first to the priest and then to the angel."
+St. Francis of Assisi

"O venerable dignity of priests, in whose hands the Son of God becomes incarnate anew as He formerly became incarnate in the womb of Mary!"
+St. Augustine

"All the good works in the world are not equal to the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass because they are the works of men; but the Mass is the work of God. Martyrdom is nothing in comparison, for it is but the sacrifice of man to God; but the Mass is the sacrifice of God for man."
+St. John Vianney

"The power of the priest is the power of the Divine person; for the transubstantiation of the bread requires as much power as the creation of the world."
+St. Bernardino of Sienna

"As by the Word of God, Jesus our Savior was made Flesh and had both Flesh and Blood for our salvation, so also the food which has been blessed by the word of prayer instituted by Him is both the Flesh and Blood of Jesus Incarnate."
+St. Justin Martyr

"As the Word of God created Heaven and earth, the words of the priest create Jesus Christ.” At a sign from God there came forth from nothing both the sublime vault of the Heavens and the vast extent of the earth; but not less great is the power that manifests itself in the mysterious words of the priest."
+St. Jerome

Sacred Heart Of Jesus, Have Mercy On Us!

Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Divine Jesus, You have said, "Ask and you shall receive; seek and you shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you." Behold me kneeling at Your feet, filled with a lively faith and confidence in the promises dictated by Your Sacred Heart to Saint Margaret Mary. I come to ask this favor: (Mention your request).

To whom can I turn if not to You, Whose Heart is the source of all graces and merits? Where should I seek if not in the treasure which contains all the riches of Your kindness and mercy? Where should I knock if not at the door through which God gives Himself to us and through which we go to God? I have recourse to You, Heart of Jesus. In You I find consolation when afflicted, protection when persecuted, strength when burdened with trials, and light in doubt and darkness.

Dear Jesus, I firmly believe that You can grant me the grace I implore, even though it should require a miracle. You have only to will it and my prayer will be granted. I admit that I am most unworthy of Your favors, but this is not a reason for me to be discouraged. You are the God of mercy, and You will not refuse a contrite heart. Cast upon me a look of mercy, I beg of You, and Your kind Heart will find in my miseries and weakness a reason for granting my prayer.

Sacred Heart, whatever may be Your decision with regard to my request, I will never stop adoring, loving, praising, and serving You. My Jesus, be pleased to accept this my act of perfect resignation to the decrees of Your adorable Heart, which I sincerely desire may be fulfilled in and by me and all Your creatures forever.

Grant me the grace for which I humbly implore You through the Immaculate Heart of Your most sorrowful Mother. You entrusted me to her as her child, and her prayers are all-powerful with You. Amen.

Sixth Planned Parenthood Clinic Undercover Video

A counselor at a Planned Parenthood clinic in Memphis, TN was caught on hidden camera coaching a 14-year-old girl to lie to a judge so he would not find out about her 31- year-old boyfriend and the girl could obtain a waiver for an abortion without her parents' knowledge. This is the sixth Planned Parenthood clinic implicated in a developing multi-state child abuse scandal involving the deliberate suppression of evidence of statutory rape.

Prayer to Saint Joseph

To thee, O Blessed Joseph, we have recourse in our affliction, and having implored the help of thy most holy Spouse, we seek with confidence thy patronage also. By that affection wherewith thou wast united to the Immaculate Virgin, Mother of God; by the fatherly love with which thou didst embrace the Child Jesus, we humbly beseech thee to look down with gracious eye upon that inheritance which Jesus Christ purchased for us by His Blood, and to help us in our need by thy powerful intercession.

Defend, O thou most watchful guardian of the Holy Family, the chosen offspring of Jesus Christ. Keep from us, O most loving father, all blight of error and corruption. Aid us from on high, O thou our most valiant defender, in this conflict with the powers of darkness. And even as of old thou didst rescue the Child Jesus from the peril of His life, so now defend God's Holy Church from the snares of the enemy and from all adversity. Shield us ever under thy patronage, so that imitating thy example and strengthened by thy help, we may live a holy life, die a happy death, and attain to everlasting bliss in heaven. Amen.

Lorica of Saint Patrick

I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through a belief in the Threeness,
Through confession of the Oneness Of the Creator of creation.
I arise today
Through the strength of Christ's birth and His baptism,
Through the strength of His crucifixion and His burial,
Through the strength of His resurrection and His ascension,
Through the strength of His descent for the judgment of doom.
I arise today
Through the strength of the love of cherubim,
In obedience of angels,
In service of archangels,
In the hope of resurrection to meet with reward,
In the prayers of patriarchs,
In preachings of the apostles,
In faiths of confessors,
In innocence of virgins,
In deeds of righteous men.
I arise today
Through the strength of heaven;
Light of the sun,
Splendor of fire,
Speed of lightning,
Swiftness of the wind,
Depth of the sea,
Stability of the earth,
Firmness of the rock.
I arise today
Through God's strength to pilot me;
God's might to uphold me,
God's wisdom to guide me,
God's eye to look before me,
God's ear to hear me,
God's word to speak for me,
God's hand to guard me,
God's way to lie before me,
God's shield to protect me,
God's hosts to save me
From snares of the devil,
From temptations of vices,
From everyone who desires me ill,
Afar and anear,
Alone or in a mulitude.
I summon today all these powers between me and evil,
Against every cruel merciless power that opposes my body and soul,
Against incantations of false prophets,
Against black laws of pagandom,
Against false laws of heretics,
Against craft of idolatry,
Against spells of women and smiths and wizards,
Against every knowledge that corrupts man's body and soul.
Christ shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that reward may come to me in abundance.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of every man who speaks of me,
Christ in the eye that sees me,
Christ in the ear that hears me.
I arise today
Through a mighty strength, the invocation of the Trinity,
Through a belief in the Threeness,
Through a confession of the Oneness
Of the Creator of creation.

Defense from what, unborn babies?

St. Francis' 400-year-old 'Devout Life' Relevant Today

by Catholic News Service
Four hundred years after its publication, "Introduction to the Devout Life" by St. Francis de Sales still offers a timely message about living a life of faith and devotion even in the midst of worldly pursuits, according to Father Thomas Dailey. "There is a timeless wisdom and gentleness to this man who lived more than 400 years ago," said the priest, an Oblate of St. Francis de Sales, who is director of the Salesian Center for Faith and Culture at DeSales University in Center Valley. "Regardless of one's current state in life, Francis' words are universal and powerful because they offer encouragement, strength and wisdom for a gentle, happy, everyday life," he added.

Absurdities

During his “yes we can” rally last night, President Obama reiterated that the United States "does not torture." America does not torture? I wonder how the president defines the methods of abortion then; when during the first 3 months of life, the Vacuum Suction tears the baby into small pieces, or D&C, a similar method, only with the added use of a hook shaped knife that cuts the baby into pieces? How about D&E, a method which is used up to 3 ½ months gestation, where instead of the loop-shaped knife, a pair of forceps is used to grasp the baby and the teeth of the forceps twist and tear the bones of the unborn child repeatedly until it is totally dismembered and where the spine must be snapped and the skull crushed in order to remove them from the sanctuary of the womb.
Perhaps the president thinks that a Saline Injection, which is used after four months of life, where a strong salt solution is inserted into the baby's sac, that the baby swallows and by which, it is burned and poisoned, is not torturous; a method which may take over an hour to kill the baby and if they should survive, may be left to die.
I suppose that he doesn’t consider a Partial-Birth Abortion, which is used from the 4th month through the end of the 9th month of life, where the abortionist uses forceps to pull the baby's legs through the birth canal, delivering the baby except for the head, then, using scissors, punctures the base of the back of the head and inserting a suction device, suctions out the baby's brain so the skull will collapse for easy removal, to be torture.
Therefore, in part, I respectfully revert the president’s own words back to him; “Our Founding Fathers, drafted a charter to assure the rule of law and the rights of man … America is a friend of each nation and every man, woman, and child who seeks a future of peace and dignity … for those who seek to advance their aims by inducing terror and slaughtering innocents, we say; you cannot outlast us, and we will defeat you … with eyes fixed on the horizon and God's grace upon us, we carried forth that great gift of freedom and delivered it safely to future generations.” (Italics are mine)
In my humble opinion, the president, like so many who confuse/contradict the truth, must be consulting a ‘revised’ and ‘privileged’ dictionary.
If you’re still reading my comment, consider this absurdity; since FOCA will compel taxpayer funding of abortions, we could use the stimulus money to pay for the tax increases that will be used to fund it! It’s typical government logic; exchanging debt for debt, tax cuts to pay for tax increases!
